It's that time again

where we ask you to do the work for us

where I ask you guys to point out and 'banner worthy' threads happening around Polycount. Or better yet, if you think yours is ready for our rotation please let us know.

If you guys are in, post the thread here and why you think it should be in the banner rotation and I'll get it updated. "Uh... because its AWESOME!" is perfectly fine for a reason.

I'd like to remove all banners in rotation and keep them in the Showcase while getting 10+ new banners in there for everyone to see.

There's only 1 kicker though; They need to be in their own thread. Art posted in the WAYWO thread, unfortunately, cannot be used as we move threads to the Showcase forum when doing this.

I'll get the ball rolling and say that I think Bee-bee's futuristic helicopter should be tossed in our rotation. It's gorgeous.

What I like most about banners is the thread that goes with them, I think it should be a requirement to have some sort of break down.

Also i think the showcase threads need to be edited slightly. The final images should be edited into the first post if they are not already done so.

With the threads being in the showcase so long the latter pages are just filled with 'WOW great work!' and it takes a while to actually find the work in some cases.

I would really love to see banners up there of people who are currently unemployed or able to find work but are extremely talented or did something amazing up there. They deserve the exposure, and it might help a couple people get jobs rather than a showcase of the best of the best from the pros.

Animator mentality here... What are the chances of getting animated gifs working in the banner? Though we don't have many animations showing up, there have been a couple of great ones recently. Seeing the head of an ugly minotaur pop up, spitting, would be fantastically awesome. Or running across the screen or something.

Hell, even a gif of enviro's, seeing snow blow across the surface, or the fans spinning or trees swaying. All the little subtleties that make an enviro come to life.

I remember Adam saying at the Toronto PC meetup that he loves seeing no camera movement, just let the waterfall do its work, kinda thing.

Just to clarify too, the quality of art being put up there shouldn't be sacrificed. Even if the person is unemployed it should still be top notch! :]

Also, it would be nice if that stuff could get updated on a regular basis, much more often. I think the stuff that's up there has been up there for like a year now.

sounds like an awesome idea Curt, though theres also talk of a flipbook of unemployed artists thats somewhere easily viewable. that might allow more unemployed artists to be seen, while not taking up the spots of the modeling gods

I definitly feel like we should have alot more banners, I would like to be able to go on polycount and not see the same banner in a sitting. My suggestion is to bring back the winners of the the old contests banners.

I honestly wouldn't mind if we had more then one banner, the two sides of my screen are pretty empty as they are, so maybe that is an idea?

Although, it would be best if it was a thick box option for slower PC's I guess but for people like me, I can never get enough banners on my screen.

I'd like to see less characters. Obviously there is some fantastic character art on polycount, but it seems like most of the work done here is environment, props, or vehicles.

I think Ceebee's idea is absolutely great. What if we had new banners every 2-3 months or so? A rotation would keep things fresh, IMO.
