[Indie] Eternal Crisis

We're in dire need of additional 2D texture artists. Anyone who is skilled with 2D textures; tillable, mesh, design, conceptual, custom, photo editing. We have too many custom props for textures than texture artists and I'm sure these guys could use a break. Information about the position is located at the bottom along with my contact information.

Welcome

I'd like to welcome you to our project entitled "Eternal Crisis" which is to feature a first person perspective, role-playing, and horror style game.

Develop and progress your characters strengths through common battle during exploration or missions within a free-roam world. Defend yourself from gangs of criminals and packs of infected/mutated humans. Scavenge for loot, treasure or knowledge. Trade or barter with others within the fortified walls of scattered villages. Repair, build or maintain your firearms. Find, purchase, or make your ammunition. Make abandoned homes your place of refuge to safely stash loot or to prepare yourself for upcoming battles/missions.

Become good or evil.



Story Introduction

This is an exact copy of our "Storyline Introduction." The scene would be the typical elderly man speaking of the story as a man sharing a story of World War 2.
I didn't think it was all possible but a little over twenty years ago life went to hell. Chaos broke out within the larger cities, namely New York, Washington D.C., Chicago, Los Angela's, and it was just a blood bath. Police squads eventually became overwhelmed and shortly after even the SWAT was annihilated. From then that's when it became an epidemic. Martial Law was rushed into effect by the current President of the time. The military attempted to end the violence but after months of struggle they simply couldn't contain the situation. Their offense became defense intertwined with search and rescue. War was officially on American soil but it wasn't against another Country but from human extinction.

Rescued survivors were escorted to sanitized military mobile hospitals. Heavily guarded and equipped against bio-hazards. They were given health care, food, shelter and often slept during the rhythm of war cries and explosions. I remember those nights as it went on for weeks at a time. The military scientists and surgeons attempted to study victims to produce a cure but the origins were a mystery. Nothing successful had been developed, what had been discovered during experimentation was far worse. The virus seemed to change every time a cure was found, in the end they realized this hell, had no cure. As time went on all the military hospitals and places of security were raided. One by one each of them fell, the remaining pockets of humanity fought for their lives.

The Government went through a list of plans to halt the epidemic but they were all failed attempts. Their last resort plan of action was to escape and let it destroy itself. It was rumored that the Government had a specific list of civilians that were given access to underground cities that were constructed some time before. These rumors were considered fact since all communication went to a halt, no more rescue missions or offensive tactics, everything just went to dead silence.

The Government abandoned everyone to prevent the possibility of human extinction. Although their prediction of safety was correct, they were incorrect about the epidemic killing itself off. The epidemic never ended but continued on for another fifteen years.

This story continues but I decided to leave it here.

You eventually figure out the details based on newspaper clippings, journals, diaries, everything that you can find to help resolve the mystery. However, you are not forced to do this, it's an action the gamer themselves must pursue if they have the interest. Common conversation will also give very brief and disclosed tips about how everything happened or their own personal story of the events.



The Infected
During game-play you begin fifteen years after the first occurance that created the post-apocalypse and the year is 2038. Society collapsed from organized civilization to scattered survivalists whom attempt to retain their common ways. Although they have worked hard, it was often beaten down by the wave of crime and the infected. Within what had happened that was caused by the mysterious plague-like infection also induced biological evolution and they became more adapted to their new life-style. The infected by this time had evolved into better hunters due to stubborn prey and adopted to overcome their limitations.

A known tactic is for lone infected to wonder about the lands in search for multiple prey and then relate this information to their pack or packs. Locally known as the "Seekers."

Since Eternal Crisis is a game that will feature role-playing, your character gets to interact with several different people.

Some may notice the female character used in the UDK AnimTree tutorial taught by Matt "Wraiyth."



Weaponry
EC will have a whole host of weaponry to defend yourself against hordes of the infected or gangs of infected. Weapons can be traded, found through exploration, or taken from your fallen enemies. Below is a recently finished Colt M1911 but in the end there will be well over 32 standard weapons, several unique weapons of the era, and melee weaponry.

These positions will be updated once their status has changed. These are royalty based positions.

Modelers
Positions: 2
Description: Character and weaponry modelers are currently needed.


Animators/Riggers
Positions: 2
Description: Character/Facial animation and weaponry animation; first and third person perspectives. Rigging is a plus.


2D Artists
Positions: 4
Description: Texturing, Environment texturing, Mesh texturing, UV mapping is a plus. Should also be able to normal map, height/displacement map, specular map, and so on. General UE3 material editing knowledge is a plus.


Effects Artist
Positions: 1
Description: This is mainly pointed to anyone who is comfortable with particle creation/editing in Unreal Engine 3 (Unreal Cascade).


Programming
Positions: 1
Description: This is mainly pointed to anyone who is comfortable with Unreal Scripting for Unreal Engine 3. Knowledge of replication and networking is a plus. Unreal Engine 3 Scaleform experience is also a plus.


Level Design
Positions: 2
Description: This is mainly pointed to anyone who is comfortable with level designing with Unreal Engine 3.
