The new update just kicked in with a blizzard, congratulations to all who got their items in this patch! I feel incredibly relieved and excited to see our Lane Shark courier in store, here's the store image for visual reference.
Im still fighting the process... reading and watching every tutorial but cant get the uv thing.
Got the low and high poly, also the cage* needed for mapping, but idk what to load in...
I got to make separate uv's for all low/high poly and cage? cant find the right answer in tutorials...
ps: sry for this kind of question
edit: looks like I failed uv map... gt search more how to save it correctly
@blossomalex: Nice artwork, right angle too But I do feel it lacks some color or highlights.
Not too good at artwork myself but I think it could look a lot better!
Oh wow I noticed that the Treasure of the Silver Storm which was released with other chest (Treasure of the Trapper's Pelt) is missing from store and from new chest (Treasure of Nested Cache) as well. Does anybody know why it was removed?
@Zip: that Brood set is really nice, the design is really unique I hope it will come to the store soon @Anuxi: is that concept for TA? If so my vote is for that TA set, I'd love to see how it turns out @Reza: I agree with StuBurrito, the vines and thorns could use some more details.
The top fur looks more accurate than the bottom fur. You could try adding more variation to the fur by varying the size of the clumps a bit more (like, in one clod, the lines can divide it into larger/smaller sections), and the depth of the lines could also vary too
Looks nice so far! Looking forward to seeing where it goes next.
I actually think a mixture of the two might work well, but for Dota the top one, MAYBE with 1 extra layer of fur shape on one or two of them, instead of one clump each. either way, it's looking quite nice
YAY My first succesfully imported item!!! despite the uv's issue whith mirror and color texture...still looking for texturing tutorials noob ranked
btw used default \m/asks
Looks like the workshop importer for PA broke this last patch. It was working fine a couple days ago, same files. Also imported the item to a different hero and it worked fine.
Probably arcana related. Can anyone else try to upload something to PA's weapon slot to test this before I report it on dev.dota2?
Finished my Tusk set just before heading off for the Holidays, good luck to everyone working on any New Bloom sets! Look forward to seeing some great work over the next few weeks.
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but I'll give it a try.
Since I'm not a 3D artist I thought I could share my concept piece of a Dota 2 courier idea that I had, and if you're a good 3d artist feel free to use the concept.
Anyway it's A unicycling toad! The thought is that when in flying mode the wheel would transform into a airscrew and the toad will pedal like mad to stay airborne.
Lemme know what you think
My brewmaster item currently sits at 818 tris and this is mainly the problem
Does anybody have any suggestions on what I should do to cut down the tricount?
I can do a paint over when i get home, but doing the leaves individually is not the way i would go. You could probably just make one "lump" of the petals that would make up 1/4 of the petals. You should even be able to save a ton of texture space this way, but I am stuck at work with no photoshop or tablet, so I can do a paint over when I get hope better explaining this
Edit: You way also want to make the HP pieces more on top of each other, as this will help with this, and baking, and texturing
I think you have to at least use a simple plane for each petal. You can do that with 3 tris per side (front/back) and use alpha on the edges.
I really don't think you need the thickness, even in hero view they will be really small.
If that's still too many you could use a few cylinders wrapped around and alpha them. (one cylinder per row instead of a bunch of petals.)
You can also get rid of a few rows (red lines) and save quite a few tris. Again, so small it won't be noticed. I'd do that first to see where the budget for the petals sits.
