After playing around with nDo and dDo and refining a bit more of my sub D modeling process, I thought a good idea would be to push myself to a 24 hour limit(amount of free time I currently have) on a great concept. Stylish, detailed but also very clean, I think this should be a good exercise. I will update as much as possible. So my deadline I'm giving myself is 10am tomorrow, around 30k polys, 4096(if my PC can handle the load) diffuse. The usual. Here goes nothing.
aaaaaaand, GO....

Some great stuff.
24 hours look like a bit too little for modelling and baking a whole vehicle.
Block out looks good!
Back on track to finish this High Poly by 6pm(3:30 now), get the low done by 8pm, make UVs, set up bakes for over night. texturing tomorrow morning....ohhh so much fun, time to get back to it!
Half hour left on my high poly modeling time limit. Just need to make the hatch, gun, missile launcher, and a few tiny other tid bits. Itll be close!
UVs....*sigh*
Note to self: Next speed test = 48 hours
Seriously though, you're a machine. Looks great. Looking forward to textures.
Fantastic work.
I would honestly say a 48 hour push would be a good idea for a contest.
I have finally baked all textures, finished last details in nDo2, and about to begin texturing process. Since its dDo, and a speed exercise, I'll assume it should be fast. My machine has been extraordinarily slow right now, which isnt helping the 'speed' process. But hopfully get this thing done soon, screen shots by noon, and we can call it 26 hour speed test
You can see holes, a stretched poly. One of my models I think hates my mirror job. also, some time to work with the shaders will do this model nice.
Heres a flat diffuse without all the marmoset issues. You can see how the occlusion has made some bruising in some areas, and dDo just ran away with it.
Ill keep tweaking this guy over the course of the next week or so.
Hmm, just looked at my poly count, 15k. I said 30 was my limit, and when I was modeling my low i was estimating around 20k, didnt realize I went that low :P.
If you're going to take this further, you may want to go back to the HP and tweak a lot of the proportions and angles, and make certain parts less simplified compared to the concept. Differences in elements like the front fenders, the wheel alignment, and the orientation of plates are neutering the end result compared to the concept
As far as the critique, you say fender, but I'm not sure what the fender is on this. I am noticing a bit of an aggressive tone to the shapes in around the head lights in the concept which my model lacks. I think I may go back and tweak the verts a but, see if that helps. But is that what you meant?
Anyways, had some fun in Marmoset, heres some renders, as well, there's more on my portfolio.
Really just colour.
Good job!
