Please please no more "gonna take you all for a ride" music, the only thing that made it playable on the Dreamcast was the ability to rip the game and re-burn it with different music.
I've been looking forward to this for a long time. I -really- liked MvC1. MvC2 wasn't my cup of tea, waaaay too many characters who were much too similar to each other (i felt like MvC1 had a nice representative of each 'type' of character) and that horrible music; the 3d backgrounds were cool, though.
Working on the cancelled EA Marvel fighting game was -pain- as a MvC1 fan.
i loved MVC2, was one of my favorite fighters of all time, so I am SOO excited for this game. I played MvC2 on dreamcast for hours on end.. oh good times:)
Wow I can't believe it! MvC2 is one of my favorite games of all time, even though I was never too good at it, I always enjoyed walking in an arcade and playing with friends. The concept of bringing two popular fighting games together is just so cool.
awesome news! Altho I prefer the Capcom vs SNK series and find the gameplay much more appealing I still welcome this game with open arms. I just hope they reaaaaally tone down the spastic, button mashy, add-ish gameplay.
and from the looks of the trailer, it appears that this will be 3d as swell. I wouldnt say Capcom nailed it, since to me their 2d efforts will always feel more fluid and animated, but street fighter 4 was still good
since it's the same but from the looks of it just with wii level graphics. Odds are Marvel vs Capcom 3 is using the exact same engine super street fighter 4 is using.
Indeed, I'm sure they bumped up the graphics a bit for this one, texture/shader/etc wise, just to make it less obvious. Then again, recycling the tatsunoko content would save them time and money, just look at the 2d Morrigan sprite. They recycled her for a long time till TvC haha
@ErichWK
im dying laughing. some people love it, others hate it. either way its catchy as hell.
i think it would be cool to see someone from capcoms breath of fire series. this game is going to be awesome though. i know they are using the same engine as sfIV, but i hope they will do something a little more less inky
I was under the impression they are using the Resident Evil 5 engine for the rendering and lighting, hence the higher poly counts and better shaders than SF4.
"Like Capcom's popular Street Fighter IV, Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 will feature 3D characters fighting on a 2D plane, he said. The game won't, however, use the same sort of graphics found in Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV. Instead Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 will run on an "advanced version" of MT Framework, the same engine that powers the graphics of Lost Planet 2 and Resident Evil 5.
"Each version of MT Framework gets better than the previous version," Niitsuma said. "A lot of key staff are involved with this game and they wanted to use the engine they are more comfortable with."
"While Capcom tells Kotaku that the characters are in-game models, these static images don't yet include shaders or the dynamic lighting and they are all, of course, works in progress."
Wow! If those are the in game models (minus shaders and a few other details) then I am thoroughly impressed. I think it looks better than SFIV...so far that is. And how the heck does Morrigan not fall out of her top.
I don't believe those are in-game models. The curves are too smooth. They would have had to commit far too many polygons to get them that smooth. I'm expecting the performance on this game to be in line with what was done on Street Fighter IV. Those look more like promotional illustrations to me.
That said, I'm totally stoked for this game. I was a big fan of the first two Marvel vs. Capcom titles. I still have my Dreamcast copy of #2.

You are a madman if you think this has the same artstyle as this. Palette, stylization of proportions, and general type of shading have very little in common. One is painterly and vivid, the other is cell shaded and anime.
Down-res'd sf4 looks like this.
All that aside, from the trailer (which looks prerendered) the visual style they're going for looks more sf4 (hatchy shading, inky effects) and less tatsuvscapcom
uhm... he didn't say they look the same, or use the same artstyle, he said they're probably using the same engine.
while there's a lot of Unreal based games that look the same, there are also some that look entirely different.
the engine makes the game work. the artists make the game look. and i'm pretty sure they use different artists, and will ultimately have different art styles.

Read: These images have been heavily reworked in Photoshop.

Please be 2d....Please be 2d....Please be 2d....
Plus they did already release an hd version of marvel vs capcom 2, so if people really wanna stick with 2d, then just play that one.
That video made me excited, still have fond memories of that game.

also 60+ roster FTW!
And ditto on that lame MvC2 song! Its still stuck in my head after all these years....
I can't imagine MvC without that song. I dunno what you turkeys are talking about.
Look at ryu's super hadoken super at the end versus the one shown in tetsunko vs capcom
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8R5A2q6ruI[/ame]
looking similar anyone?
But tetsunko vs capcom nailed the MVC style dead on, so this with iron man deadpool and megaman X or Rockman Zero Would be awesome
if you look at the the MVC ending with ryu you can see the same cell shaded/comic look there doing for tetsunko vs capcom,
the art style are totally different to encompas all the many different fighters
Where as SF4 has all the same universe/characters so they dont need to match different styles, they have 1 uniform one.
Seriously look at the end of the MVC3 trailer with ryu's super hadoken, pause it
and look at the intro of the video I posted at the same special ryu's doing and look at them both closely, there both rather similar

But I've bought WAY too many fighters over the past 2 years that have sat on my shelf, only to collect dust.
Morrigan
^_^
the black dark tone that emulate marvel comic style is little bit turn off for me ..
i could be wrong, cos sometimes in game graph look better than cinematic.
