created [Sketchbook]- Cashfire
on 05-20-2012 02:19 PM
In my long quest to someday get a job in the industry I decided to creat a new sketchbook, to post things Im working on this year. First we have my "Silence" character from the tv show Doctor Who. It started off as a zsphere and using dynamesh It evolved into this. Now that I have did the retopogy on it I think Im gonna take it further, with some fine details, and I wanna get better at texturing, which I feel that Im not that strong at. As happy for any great input from all the awesome artist out there.

I got some input from I decided that it was looking a little off, the head needs to be bigger. After some changes, and a new look at it I changed it up a bit. Still feel that it needs a bit more work.

The sculpting work looks good, the colours and shaders will make or break this one.

Started on the texturing today, its all polypaint, with the spray tool in zbrush, with a alpha, I have to say I never know how useful that spray tool could be. Always happy for any tips out there.

No need to bump the thread after half an hour... (Damn spammers)
That being said the alien guy is looking ok to my eyes. Nothing major stands out, but it's also not exactly human, while also not being very far into it's own unique thing either. I'd say for as thin as he seems his collarbones sure aren't very pronounced or noticeable. Also the "slit" cat-eye thing on his eyes I'm not really feeling, I think it'd look better with maybe the opposite - significantly dilated pupils?

Thanks Two Listen, Im gonna work on the color bone, i had it more noticeable in my earlier design, but guess in changing the proportions, I washed it out. Its not a human, its a alien character form the show "Doctor Who,"
I agree with you that the eyes dont really go with it, just trying out something..
Thanks for taking the time out to give me some tips.. You Rock!!

...oh yeah, I guess I see that now in the opening post, where you mentioned what character it was. Don't I feel silly, sorry about that.
This could be an interesting guy to texture. Look forward to more progress.
