Ok so I had to put this off for school stuff for a long time but finally I was able to pick this up for a 3d environments class. Made a few changes to the assets and textures.

Good start sipher. The door looks a bit basic, but i think it matches the style of your reference. I think once you it in the scene with lighting and some shadows it will look fine. What engine are you going to be using for your scene? Have you started roughing out the buildings yet?

I'm going to be using UDK. I haven't started the buildings yet but the village will be constructed similar to what romy did here http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1465101 . Last quarter we actually were tasked with modeling a medieval building and I did the waterwheel house. I made a lot of mistakes so i'm redoing that. Aside from the door I also have other textures set up like the stucco wall, tileable stone, and thatched roofing texture.

Your bridge needs work. The arch should span the entire length of the gap under it. otherwise it's not really supporting the weight and the bridge would collapse. If you add supports it's another matter. Either way, the silhouette is not very interesting right now.

Don't be afraid to add some extra polys to make the piece more interesting. Try adding an edge loop and warping the wood beams a little, softening the silhouette on the rock wall and putting some of the stone shape into the model, roughing up the stairs so they're not so perfect, etc. In nature, there are not perfect straight lines or 90 degree angles, so your models should have hints of imperfection too or it looks very fake. It doesn't need to be anything dramatic, but you would be surprised at how much of a difference it can make.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Here some updates based on the changes you recommended. I played with the topology of the stairs, wall, bridge and tried not to make it looks so neat and clean. I'm also doing vertex painting but for some reason i'm getting this error on the stairs after i build lighting. Any ideas as to why? I reimported the mesh and checked the material. I think i'm going to go for a darker texture or maybe some textures with some cracks in it for the vertex painting. I'm also going to need more topology on the wall for the vertex painting to look good.

With the majority of the bridge consisting over the lowered ground (if you think that 25% is on either side 50% in the middle) it still wouldn't support the weight never mind additional weight going over it. Why not try using the arch to slope into the hill (increasing the bridge size/decreasing the huge arch size) rather then just scaling in one direction?

Very Nice work..... Keep building. I guess u need to check that bridge once, I my opinion the arch should be a little low to support the bridge weight and the arch works well with its base rested over a flat surface.

Scale is a big issue with the houses, where will you fit the windows? Make sure you make good modular pieces from the start, it'll be a time-saver.

Going to ignore the landscape for now and just focus on finishing the buildings. I don't have much time to work on this so I hope to finish at least half and then get a good river in there.

Everything looks pretty bright and clean. You could add some more dirt and grime to all of your textures, at the bottom and in the corners, with streaks of water damage etc.

Thanks jmt. I plan on creating a second set of textures for weather damage and then im going to vertex paint them on. I like your paintover, thats kinda the look im going for.

http://www.tabletop-world.com/. I frequent this website a lot! I love table top models for reference, they just have a look and feel to them that I can't get over.

Great work! I'm still in the process of learning a ton of info before I delve into a similar style environment.

Last update before I turn in....hopefully i can still push this after midterms.

populated the place with udk assets because of time constraints. I also used their water shader and mountain asset for the background.
