created Unwrap for complex pattern texturingon 04-27-2012 10:24 PM
Hi all. I have tried many things and searched everywhere but nothing helped.
I am texturing viking tunic and there should be knot patterns in some areas. The place where pattern should be is a bit complex. I tried to unwrap so that the part where the pattern should be is rectangle but then I have bad stretching. I also tried to unwrap as normal and wrap the pattern in photoshop but it also looks quite stretchy. Is there any other ways of dealing with this problem or am I doomed ?

Do you have access to mudbox/zbrush? Or some other way of projecting a texture onto a mesh and working that way? You could avoid the stretching with the photoshop way but you will need to manipulate your uv's to accomodate for that stretching which can be tricky sometimes.
Ok sry for the images. I will reupload them here with
different hosting. I have 3d coat and zbrush and I tried to project the pattern but I still have to tweak it alot. How you would project it ?

Not had to do it before, I think mudbox projections have a way to warp the image like photoshop can so you could tweak it to how you want it to bend around and project live rather than guessing it.
