Hey guys

I tried my hand at a animated skydome with day and night, without looking at complicated stuff like scattering, mie and that other girl. So it is fairly simple, but I'm pretty happy with the overall outcome.

I've included a build (win only) and some screens

Have a look:

night time shot needs work. the colors and tones seem washed out and the clouds are weirdly high contrast. id have a look at what cryengine does for their time of day for inspiration.

You're right, the whole thing still needs a lot of tweaking, I've just added a starfield to the night sky (In the build, not in any screens).

I've updated my skydome so here is a new video.

I've tweaked the night time, added moonlight and added morning/evening mist on the ocean.

I think the day time clouds looked better in the prior video, they're blowing out in the latest one.

I think that night time clouds shouldn't be that opaque. Being able to see through all of them looks a little off. I would try to smooth them out (contract and colour wise) and don't make them as much see-though.

Your night clouds feel too bright, I think. Tried a bit of tweaking with levels and curves in PS:

You day clouds are still blowing out. You really don't want any hot spots that are 100% white imo.
