Hey there !

I really need a environement piece for my portfolio, so I did a little concept (I did this with an iPad because I didn't have my computer at that moment

)

It's really a rough one, I intend to do more detailed sketches

But from that base, I made this little blockout in Max

And I just started to make some assets

The next step will be to make another sketch to try and fix proportion issues, and detail the back of the house, because I would like to make this scene as a diorama type of thing

Also that window feels like it is just floating in the air

Some progress :

I don't have much time to finish it, so some things aren't as detailed as I wish they were

The stair doesn't look good, I'll change it if I have some time

And some foliage I just started working on

Still so much to do : the tree, the ground, the little river, the chair, the roof, ... !

Hey that's some pretty cool foliage. How did you get those planes not to cast shadows?

Thanks, the foliage are actually just Flat 3ds max screenshots, but I assume in UDK you could just uncheck "Cast Shadows"

I won't fix it now, because I still have some little assets and tweaks to do

hey nice direction you are heading, but to be hones i highpoly doubt someone would construct a building like that? are those bigger wooden blocks just decoration put on top? because right now it looks like they are in all crucial places to the statics

i think you should look into some infos on how wooden frames are constructed, and why - because right now it doesn't seem to make much sense

i agree with neox, and i think the more ?impressionistic? building construction is also kinda jiving with the noisier and more realistic texture direction. the little things such as grass and wood planks are all grounded and detailed but the most important thing, the house overall, is not. it's almost like a plain box dressed up with photoreal textures, if that makes sense

Yes, I agree with you both, I overlookEd the logical part of the design, and focused too much on the visual aspect, thanks for the feedback

Next time, I should do more than one rough concept ^^
