Never faced this problem before but after updating to r2 and then r3 some strange things appeared. Say, I have a mesh with several subdivision levels and sculpted details. I want to delete a part of the mesh. As usually I switch to the lowest subd level, hide unnesessary part of the mesh and click DelHidden. In previous versions when I switch to highest level - it's ok, but now all the details are getting completely lost! Any ideas?

i've had similar issues with older versions, but it used to just blur your details.

before you hit delhidden, go to the highest subdiv and mask it all. go back to the lowest subdiv and hit delhidden.

if that doesn't work you might try using split hidden and then delete the extra sub tool you don't want.

good luck.

Tried both ways - neither works. Moreover - I've figured out that SplitHidden now gives the same crappy result as DelHidden! Something is really wrong with it...

Yeah, noticed that too.
Earlier versions blurred it, but it gets worse and worse.
You could move to your highest subdiv, delete the lower ones and then delete hidden parts. Yes, subdivs are gone but your mesh looks ok.

Yeah i got this bug a long time ago in previous zb version, a way i avoided this, was to mask my mesh, that way it will keep all the details when i delete the other piece. But I think you need to go to subd 1, not highest.

Use the 'Freeze Subdivision Levels' button. It will freeze the SubD levels, and drop you down to the lowest level. Do your selection, delete hidden, then toggle the Freeze Subdivision Levels button back. It will pre-project the detail for you.

Yes, I use this way - there's no other choice actually. Then I rebuild lower subd levels But it's a really ea

Masking doesn't work. Tried to mask highest level. Tried to mask lowes - neither helps to preserve details.

Here's a gif showing the result of freezing (original mesh, deleting normally, and then freezing first). There's no need to delete and rebuild levels. Just click freeze, do you thing, and unclick freeze.

I'm actually running into a freeze subdivsion problem. Everytime I hit FSL on the highest subdivision and hit it again it deforms the ztool.

Didn't realize it that FSL was tied to the project all feature.
