Hello Polycount!

Who hear has an intuos4!?

I do but the space on my desk means i get it out, plug it in and work. Then when I'm done i unplug and move it.

However in the back of my head everytime i plug/unplug i die inside thinking that one day i'm going to break the port, i know theres another port but that doesn't ease my worry.

I've heard horror stories of broken usb ports :O so hows things for you guys?

I've been thinking of getting a small usb cable then i plug into my wacom so the plugging/unplugging happens via that cable. is this too much?

what do you suggest.

i have the same issue. i have an intuos4 large and space is an issue as well. what i do is have it plugged into a USB in the front of my computer, so if i need to take it off the desk i can do so without unplugging it. (otherwise ill just put my keyboard on top of it.. which i usually end up doing most times)

yup. Unplug it from the computer instead of the tablet end..

I just leave mine plugged in tho since I use it most days and have a space for it on my desk

Yeah, i've just come across something like this (i'm left handed)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mini-USB-5...-/280723412637

I could get a short one and tape it to the side of my wacom as my computer sits under a desk.

I have the intuos4 M, do you guys have covers for them? I'm still using the bit of black foam it came with to go over it

lolyd, I made that wacom thread (nswf? wtf)
I had it taken to several electricians and all sorts of specialists, none were able to fix it. I bought the ports seprately and had them re-welded but it was ever too fragile. Had to buy a new.

Ur solution is da shit

Really, Shotgun? Sucks. A student I hardly knew at school soldered new ports back on for free while he was really sick. That guy was a real G. ;_;

The ports are easy to break. I've seen the insides of them, it's ridiculous. Trade it back in for a non-usb mini version.

I dunno, maybe he had his ports break without tearing off part of the MB. It's critical if they do.

...non-usb mini version? wassat?

Both of mine totally came off, hahah. And no, it was usb. I want to find a cheap way to replace it, or pester intuous into giving me a 6x8 instead of the planet sized version I had. I'll do it tomorrow, and write an extremely embellished story explaining my situation. They'll lap it up!

wacom needs some anal QA, esp. for their design department - there's a ton mini-usb devices out there, and intuos 4 board is one the most poorly designed ones
their gadgets have been steadily declining in build quality over the past five years or so, while their prices don't seem to go much lower

I have a problem about Intuos4 mid. Since this is related to that.

While I am working in zbrush, the pen-pressure gets disabled automatically, than I have to really reduce the intensity down to 2-3. This only happens when I am using clay tube brush. (I think, and it started only when I upgraded to zbrush 4r2).

Also, While working in Photoshop. The brush re-size function gets disabled on the tablet's dial.

Has anyone faced these issues?

I just want to know if thats something to do with the tablet.

That's windows i think, i get the same problem on both intuos 3 and 4with photoshop, max and zbrush. if it happens after you save a tool try alt+tabbing in and out of zbrush, works for me.

with a wireless one you'll be pluging it in to charge, so wont it get more usb usage?

looks like there's an update to intuos 4 line coming soon —
http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=234062

CES is in early January, so it might be worth a wait for anyone considering an intuos purchase
