Working on a new piece, a server room with a sci fi feel. Really wanted to work on my HP modeling. Most everything is blocked out HP and baked. Didnt touch texturing or lighting yet. Only lighting is emmisive from the lights. I having trouble with color pallet and texturing of the walls. Feels bare

Any input thanks guys

I think it's time to head into some kind of concept stage where you mess around with colors and lighting to get a mood feel for it. I like the overall composition, it's very nice. It could be a really kick-ass scene. Take the first screenshot and try some stuff in photoshop.

For the walls you need AirConditioning/Cooling, fans etc etc, maybe even have cables running around the walls and roof. It's a server room after all.

Hmm, just googled for 2 seconds on sci-fi server room and I found the concept you're working from

Maybe try and work with what you got there? It's a very nice concept! And remember good lighting will always help hide the "modular"-feel of an environment.

Yup thats it, i emailed the guy and asked for permission. Never got an answer yet ..
Yea I gotta finish modeling in the wires support frame desk and so on.
Are you talking about the walls on the top side of the support structure, i should add some random fans and gunk to help clutter the area?

Is it typical to play with Texturing around now or finish the modeling first? Same with lighting?

Also with the scene being modular, this is first time ive used same pieces so many times, should i use multiple textures for the walls to vary it up or look into vertex painting?

Ive also been searching for how to get that radiant volume rays from my main light source. Any idea how to accomplish that? Fog?

Thanks for opinions

Always make it clear whenever you using another's concept as reference. Never forget to credit people (mainly saying this because you didn't mention it in your first post).

More Progress, added some air vent fans, lit a bit, redid door since i wanted more detail in it. All textures are grey with AO, no specular either just using diffuse with 45 constant value.

Your scene is very blue, the concept has a lot warmer tone into it.

Actually, only the holosign has that kinda blue in it, otherwise it's very green and brown Maybe work on your colors to get the feel right first?

Yea i noticed that as well, should i change the texture values overall on everything or just on certain areas to help.

I wasn't going for a complete recreating i was just kinda using the ref as a reference. With that in mind should I still change some tones to help color balance of scene? I sense the blue washing out alot but i dont know how to combat it

Good Start to the scene Nick.

Rely on the lights to give colour to the scene and not so much the textures/materials. If that is how your going about it.. if not then carry on :P

right now just the emissive from the lights is lighting the scene and i multplied the node by a cyan color maybe its too strong and i should turn it down and tweak a few textures
