I am strugling a bit with this. What would be the best way to create natural folds for a hanging flag ? That way so I could bake them to the low poly. Paint ? Sculpt ? Or is there another "faster" way ?
lol im such a cheap ass I would just use reactor cloth and then pick a good frame
Me too, it may be quick and dirty but it's gonna be much more realistic. Of course realistic isn't always what you want, so you could maybe exaggerate what you end up with by sculpting a bit of extra detail.
Reactor should give you a nice base to work with though!
I was doing this sort of stuff at work the other day and found the best way to do it was extrude the border outwards to give it a slight bit of depth (Zbrush doesn't like planes) and then sculpt on the folds. Gives a really realistic look if you sculpt it right! Then you can apply an alpha if you like, or you could model in the geo.
ah so basicly shell the thing and export to zbrush. Gonna try it both ways and see what happens. I still will need some basic indication how the cloth will react with gravity in order to properly sculpt over. Thanks will try that out
