created Transformers CGI Dynamic Duo
on 07-31-2011 12:49 AM
Hey guys,
I haven't posted much here, but I thought this would be a great place to post updates of two transformers that my friend and I are working on.
We are aiming to have these as portfolio models and get them in some sort of short film (Kind of like a reel to show off the models).
I am personally working on Wheelie from Transformers 2/3(?) and my friend Bryan is working on Iron Hide.
He will be posting some work tomorrow, but until then, here is what I started a few hours ago:
*screen grabs, no renders atm*

-Before Miki burnt his left eye. =D
CnC's are welcome!

Heres a WIP on Ironhide, I started a bit later then Josh because I was working on another model when he started, but you can expect a lot more progress soon.

Bryan is awaiting approval from a mod to post.
I have the upper hand atm, as Bryan barely just started blocking out his model.
This is where I am at atm. Hope you guys like it.
Lots to do on the head still.

Small update. Deleted about 3 hours of work because I started to look to close to the small details and I lost sense of scale.

I can't stand the 'Michael Bay' look of the newer transformers, but nobody can argue against the amount of technical effort and skill it takes to do what you are doing. In the end I can put aside my opinion on the style and say 'DAMN, that's a lot of work, skill and detail.' keep it up!

I know what you mean man. But on the other hand, after starting to model this little guy, I have a whole new appreciation for Transformers. It's amazing what the artists have created for these movies.
I plan to send the guy who created Wheelie an email and ask him for his input on the model/textures and what not when I finish this.
Update (Sorry for updating everyday :p)

So after a longish break, I got back to work on this. I just had so much to do in my life that I couldn't get to work on this.
Here are a few update screen shots: (Some details aren't coming up in the screenys)

@Electro; Thanks man! Yea, I do need to find a good one asap, but I'm also try to not spend to much time fiddling with new render setup's until I'm fully done the model.
(I stopped using Zbrush because of this, great to know how to fix it! Thanks! )
@Lonewolf: Thank you!!
p.s. Love ur new portfolio man!

close up:
Finding it hard to find references of his middle section even though I have Transformers 2 and 3 in 1080p pure bluray formats... So its going a little slow.
Anyways, Enjoy!
