Damn it, if only you'd showed this off a couple weeks ago. I had a model I could've used this on more than anything.

EDIT: Whoooooa. This is great, but I don't think it's 20 great. Guess I'll stick with snapping to shapes.

Could such a spline be used to deform an arbitrary mesh ? That is to say, using a spline not coming from the edge flow of the object to be deformed (been dreaming about that for years!!)

No you can't.
A solution to your problem might be skinning your mesh to some bones then trying to deform it.

This would have saved me so much time in vehicle modeling... Made a stealth plane a while back, and this would have been perfect for the curves on that thing. I do believe you officially win, obliviboy.
