Someone linked me to this new site the other day, and so far I'm really impressed.

http://www.redforward.com/

It's basically a linkedin for artists in the game/tv/film industry. It has a really nice selection of news and other articles on the home page, and a pretty slick interface. The ability to set games as your default news feed is a nice touch. Once you register, you can network with other artists and even set up a portfolio within your profile.

Feel free to add me.

I think I need to seriously drop Facebook at this point...as Dee said, too many darn social sites!

I don't know about you, but I like keeping my childhood friends in close contact on a social site...

Whatchu guys mean 'them'; surely theres only fb and linked in already? Not too many. Also agreeing with Ace... if you don't use fb, you need friends, and to start meeting new people I tried shutting down my facebook; lasted about a month. All the new people I'd meet, wanted to stay in touch through facebook. Its the new email.

So, because I don't use a social site to spam people requests with.. I have no friends? =[

I haven't actually made new friends or met people through facebook - I've found real life to be the best social networking platform.

I don't think this should be considered in the same vein as facebook and G+. I'll still be using G+ as well.

IMO...

Redforward = industry specific version of linkedin/cool news source

G+ = better version of facebook

Oh wow, I sent in some feedback suggesting they add some more linkedin-like features to the networking aspect, and the founder of the site emailed me back personally. According to him, they will be adding a lot more features for professional networking in the coming weeks. Should be cool.

Hi people, I just want to announce you that Redforward is not a direct competitor of Facebook or Google+. It was made to help artists on the industry to have a chance to socialize with the others. So it's made to complement the other social networks.

By the way, here's my profile :
