~ For the first time in over a year I've finished a personal piece thanks to the Brawl! I know I never finished for the deadline but I forgot how much fun a competition can be when you're knee deep among super awesome artists! I've totally got the buzz for making art again ^ _ ^

I can totally picture a white trash Peach to go with this character.
maybe a bit late for crit but, I think he is far too clean for a plumber and he should be up to his eyeballs in "crap" (not literally).

The presentation of your normal map could have, or could be, silhuette of the Smash Bro symbol(s) or shapes of iconic Mario items (IE. Mushroom, Bobomb, and/or Pipes).
Again, Fantastic! Instant favorite.
Only thing that really bugged me was that you cast that glove on in the back. It looks so flat!

This is pretty epic! I love that i had to 'realize' who it was after the subtle clues, thats so sweet. The texturing is so incredible man! I would have like to see him a bit dirtier too but otherwise its awsum.

I think in terms of the design it was possible I could have made him dirtier etc; I just didnt wanted to stray too far away from the clean nature of the original Mario bros.
The visual clues of who the character is, were deliberately very vague because I wanted people to see a plumber THEN Luigi after further assessment.
I personally always liked that about other peoples fan-art when people didnt shove the idea down your throat. All of these were deliberate design choices that could very well be contested Im just explaining why things look the way they do
The weird chest topology was me getting a bit caught up in having nice pectoral deformation that is admittedly kind of pointless... lol. Regarding the giant wrench; I was surprised to find out on my ref search this image!
I cant be upset about not completing Brawl because I joined the comp far too late to complete it in time PLUS I think JFletcher represented the Mushroom Kingdom to the max on our behalf!!
My portfolio is pretty ancient so Im currently remaking it just for my own piece of mind. This guy was the first piece.

I really like how he's dirty to an extent, yet clean. I think his shirt could do with a little logo on the left part of his chest(as they usually do on this kinds of shirts) and his jeans could use some more worn off color on his knees since I'm pretty sure he does a lot crawling at work. All and all some more small details could do him some good.
The face is really cool and nothing beats the gameboy.:)
