Hello! First time to post in Polycount! Started to be more of game artist also because of work. And I really love characters. Anyway So after thinking a long time of what to do. Here is my idea of Heihachi as a Pirate. No real explanation why but my idea started as him being a fisherman and I thought it was boring. hehehe Anyway thanks for looking!:)

Thanks guys! Yeah I kinda wanted to put slashes and I can see it not really working. Anyway I think I can start doing some blocking out in 3D and get some proportions done tonight! I will lose the lone cuts or maybe I will think of something later on in the sculpt. cheers

Concept looks great, the only issue that stands out to me is the "Tekken" belt buckle. To me it kind of looks like he went to Toys R Us and got the Officially Licensed Tekken Belt or something... it just feels a little corny. If you want to do something special with it in place of a regular old belt buckle, I'd suggest doing something with a door knocker-esque tiger face, recalling the printed tiger face he wears on the back of his gi (unless of course you are keeping that as-is). I'm a little unsure of him wearing Jin's tattoo as well. I'm no expert on Tekken lore so I don't really know about storyline significance, but regardless of that it's such a visual trademark of Jin's that it feels a little out of place for Heihachi.

Qualms aside though, I think you're looking pretty great so far.

Hey Jigsaw! I knew I wanted put something there but wasnt so sure so I just put the logos there. I really like the idea of putting a Tiger head buckle and I am thinking of doing some kind of snake like tattoos on his arm. I will do another pass on the concept before I start doing this in 3D. So finally some updates taking most of the easter holidays to do as much as I can. Been way too busy!! I really hope to finish this guy before deadline. Still needs alot more stuff and sculpting. C+C always welcome!

hey David, love the idea of a pirate Heihachi, some great crease work in the jacket too. I wonder if the groin might be a bit too low though, at the moment there are a lot of compression wrinkles around that area which doesn't sugest that the crotch of the trousers is low and a bit baggy...if tyhat makes sense? I dont think that its the belt throwing off proportions cos from the back he's looking good, maybe the legs need length and the groin is fine? Sorry I'm being a bit nondescript.....but keep at it...deadlines looming....less sleep

Thanks for the feedback. I did feel weird about the pants bit. just had to sculpt something quick there to keep modelling as I go. I will fix it though!:) Yeah me too less sleep!

Here is another quick update. Finally got some references to work with and only managed to sculpt the pants tonight. Still need to add some props and details everywhere.

I think I should be able to finish detailing all his clothes and so on today. And I will start retopo tomorrow.

Anyway here is my model all painted up in zbrush and everything that needed detailing. Time to go retopo! eeerr... hehehe C+C are always welcome! I am quite happy with it at the moment and I hope I make it on time before the deadline.

After 3 sleeples nights...really. I finally baked everything and retopo so on.. just need hair. pose then bring into toolbag for some shading action... almost done!! Here are some images of what I have so far. Let me know what you guys think! Thanks!
