is there a noob area or servers where inexperienced players go on ps3? cause Ive had battlefield for about 4 months now and I hardly ever play it cause I just get killed non-stop whenever I play. I cant even learn the maps Im dying sooo much I just got to fly a helicopter for the first time ever today and that seems rediculous. I get like 2-5 kills and 7-12 deaths pretty much all the time, my 2 mates and my brother in laws all have the game and say the same thing, there must be some way to play against similar players and not all these serious players?

"Close Quarters" is such a massive contradiction when you say its for a title called "battlefield". Of course this is about repetition of COD based on nothing but more money for EA and a cut for DICE. This is the problem with large publishers these days, they are like someone trying to find a good signal for their phone but refuse to try other areas because one area had a good signal a few years ago. Such a lack of innovation I tell ya!

If you want to practice, they suggest buying a server (of course).

Don't use quickmatch. Filter your server list (I believe down on your right pad), and look for servers with only a few players). Either way, you're likely to get your ass handed to you until you get more time in.

For the record, I HATE the rented servers. That, and they've had so many exploits, bugs, and bad netcode. It really has made me question how long I'll continue playing this game. And now, they want me to pay $50 for the promise of maps, that won't even reach me until next year? I don't know if I'll be playing it that long. So, they claim it's a good deal.

Here's how they break it down... $15 per DLC, for 5 DLCs (and various other add ons), making a total of $75 if purchased individually, so we'd save $25 with premium. Problem is, most of us already have one of those DLCs (Karkand), so it only saves you $10. So, the only way I'll get my savings, is if I buy ALL these games over the next YEAR. That's a pathetic savings to be honest, especially since it's giving them my money now... not a year from now. That's not a good investment for me.

Not to mention, as I did in the EA thread, I have BF3 for 2 platforms (PS3 and PC). So why do I have to buy these packs twice. To be truly premium, I should be able to get a code that covers me for all platforms.

But, instead, I now get to look forward to being kicked from servers who have the new maps in their rotation. So, those who say "no one is MAKING you buy the patch", you can kindly go fuck off, because I DO have to buy these DLCs to avoid getting kicked all the time.

Don't forget the VIP queuing that is in place now. All premium players get bumped to the top of the queue. So in some cases on packed servers, you could be first then a few prem's come in and bump you to 5th, you wait till your 1st and a few more bump you down.

These are on servers people have paid for aswell, EA/DICE are dictating server order. I don't think members of the server/clan are going to be happy about that.

Yeah, especially if the server admin has no control over the queue. So, you know what will happen. The admin will kick people until his clan mate can join. That should be fun :/

VIP is the clan members with reserved slots, they will still go ahead of premium members. Peasants will go wanting! lol

They've already stated VIPs get priority over Premium when queuing for their own or friend's servers.
Honestly I don't get why people are upset about the queue thing at ALL. I've never waited in a queue for a server ever. If I try to join a server with a couple free slots open and I miss my opportunity because they were filled really quick, I just find a new server. Why would anyone wait in line anyway?

You may wait in line, because your friends/platoon are on the server. Otherwise, yes, I am like you and jump. Then again, with the limited number of decent servers, I've found myself sitting in queues, just to get on the one decent server I've found.

Yeah, we always queue because 1) we have a few favorite server where we know the somewhat regular clientele is pretty decent and 2) as notman said when you're 3 to 6 people you really will have to queue to all get in the same server.

If we kept getting pushed back in line I think we'd all just quit playing alltogether, it's already a fine balance between annoyance and fun for that game.

I decided to take a chance on Close Quarters/Premium, and so far I've been pleasantly surprised. You guys may see me in Gun Master pretty often for a while at least.

Absolutely, the last patch completely changed the game! I'm looking forward to the upcoming minor fixes for the chopper and jet rocket pods, but overall the game is playing like a dream now.

My issue, with the last patch, is it didn't fix a few major issues. It seems like the sole focus was a patch so everyone could be ready for CQ. On the PS3 (not sure on others), Gulf of Oman still locks the whole system up. They also need to fix the boats, so you can't glitch them (with a MAV), and drive them through (and under) the terrain.

And, of course, as they try to fix things, they break others. The Aug with the underslung M320 smoke, is a death machine. No recoil on the Aug, and when the M320 is attached, it too does not have recoil, so the projectiles shoot straight, giving you a one shot/one kill.

I do really like the CQ maps though. Unfortunately, many of my friends (who bought premium), don't seem to want to play the new maps. I haven't tried gunmaster, and my platoon is split on it. Some like it, others don't, so again, we tend not to play it (and thus I've never played with them).

Even though I bought premium, I still do question if it warrants paying $50 (or more) for. Right now, I play mostly on my PS3, and I'll probably be playing it later, once all the maps have arrived. I just think, many players, will no longer have interest in the game, when the final maps come out next year. If you even miss ONE DLC, then you've lost your savings.

I recently bought the PC version too (still need to add you Dave), and I'm not sure if I'll get Premium for it. I don't get as much time on my PC, and to be honest, even though it looks better, I find it not as fun (and very difficult to control). We'll see. I'm hoping for a deal, to get premium for $30, or something. Doubt that will happen though.

One other negative, some of the new weapons are extremely powerful, and if you don't have Premium, or the DLC, then you will get your ass handed to you on the regular maps. When I play the PC version, I'm still ranking, and even though I'm not a 'noob' at this game, it feels like I am, because my limited weapons don't compare to the higher ranked, premium players. As a side note, I love that Vets think I'm a noob, because my rank is low, which causes them to rage when I kill them. Why is it, they automatically assume, that a 3 star lance corporal shouldn't have any skill?

Anyway, time to watch the video

Update: Ooooh, nice win. I'm sitting here at work, and now I'm anxious to go try it

Hey Dave - what's that FXAA injector you are using? Do you have a link? Also, does it get you in trouble with PB?

@notman, The only thing that bugs me about Gun Master is that it resets all of your loadouts after you play. Annoying!

@Matabus, Some of the Punkbuster staff are actually using it. They checked it out last year and said it's fine, and that if that changes there will be an announcement. You can grab it from here (I'm using v5): http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/b...-injector.html

Here's the FXAA profile that I'm using if anyone wants it: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/6675789/injFX_Settings.h

Really? It doesn't do that on the PS3. Hopefully they fix that soon. I had a chance to play it last night, and it was pretty fun. I wasn't able to win, but I did rank top 5 (and got that part of my assignment). Unfortunately, one of the matches, I was the final stab :*(

I like the new maps, and I can't wait until they are in regular circulation with the servers. Hopefully not too many people continue this 'one or the other' thing with their map rotation. Seems to be all original, all karkand, or all close quarters. Not much variety. Not sure on the PC, since I don't have the packs for it yet.

Everytime I play this game and use anything that isn't a sniper rifle why does it feel like the gun is basically floating out of my hands when I shoot?

The recoil is crazy. And everyone I shoot it feels like it takes me 10+ hit sounds to kill them but it only takes them 3?

This is why I use the L96 with a holo scope, so I get the close range of assault rifle, 1 shot kills, and I don't have to worry about my gun feeling like a bubble blaster full of helium.

That's why you're suppose to burst fire. None of the guns are designed to just hold and walk around spraying the world (though I hear people doing it all the time).

Im better on console BF3 than I am on PC, actually. Mostly because on PC I don't have all of my favorite guns yet and im dealing with the horribad starting guns.
