The program is called lite-step. It modifies your OS front end, which is the desktop according to your prefs.

This is basically like the rainmeter software, eh?

Interesting, would either of these clear up all the Windows bloat? Sort of like the difference between running the Gnome VS. Openbox or Xfce or LXDE desktop managers on a Linux OS.

i tried it, but its a little tricky sometimes.

first of all, its not working properly with win7 (if you click on your desktop everything looks fine, if you click into any open folder the standard ui will clip)
u can get around this with a special installer, then updating manually, but in the end you install themes, it tries to download the modules used with it and fails most of the times.

it looked pretty interesting, but its relying on heavy coding as far as i have seen to really adapt it to your own needs.

Litestep was fine. Did not see it reduce windows "bloat" or whatever. Last I checked, depending on the module, Litestep can take MORE memory than IE. Got rid of it because not all apps work with it. Also, messes with Environment Variables, they don't take right sometimes. Turn off Lightstep, restart, change variable, restart, maybe enjoy... maybe. Got old quick. Messes with the language/multiple keyboards bar.

I keep my OS interface the way it is minus some user settings.

Actually it was 1998 until they changed their website and I heared they've upgraded and fixed some stuff, but I have seen the change of my opinions after review(s)

It's funny: Lite Step is based on Nextstep which OSX is based on which in turn has been influencing Windows as of late.

I used to use litestep and other explorer replacements, but nowadays I'm just using Windows 7 explorer, rainmeter, altdrag, and an app that let me replace default txt file software to notepad++. Last time I really used litestep was windows 2000. I've probably used blackbox more though.
