The title says it all really. I've been working on this RX7 for the last few weeks for my 'folio.
Been staring at the screen making tiny adjustments for the last hour (not getting far as you can tell) so now I think its time for some fresh eyes. I'm mainly looking for some constructive criticism on the texture work please. Don't be shy!

Here's is the main ref I'm using for the texturing process.

How will you be displaying the final result? Will you have access to specular and normal maps. What framework are you playing with here?

If I can figure out how to get alpha maps in Xoliul's shader I will use that, if not I will use Marmoset. Either way I want it to be in real time.

The car already has spec applied, and the normal map only has info on the intercooler behind the grille (hard to see from that angle) and the brake disc.

I did a similar thing here: http://www.laurenscorijn.com/portfolio/240sx-bosozoku
Not that hard, just layer stuff like paint variation, dust, splotches. There are much harder things to texture. here's the diffuse:

Not a perfect example, UV's are terribly wastefull (i intended it for offline rendering but then decided realtime is cooler) and the spec isn't very good.

Thanks Xoliul. I think I'll unwrap mine again looking at your UV's there. Ill update soon with the new UV's and texture work.

Thanks.

Don't base yourself on that UV layout too much, please, it wastes like 50%. I wouldn't dare turn something like that in in a company.
This is much more efficient:

I have changed the layout of it a bit, plus I have stuff to fill in the spare UV space. Thanks for the new example. I'll post the new unwrap as soon as I've finished it, nearly done

PS. The renders of the 240sx on your site look awesome. That's a similar look I'd be going for with some luck and help from you guys.

Your model is really inaccurate. The headlights look like they've been sat on and the A pillar is bent all weird. The whole thing is kind of lumpy. Are you using blueprints?

Yes I'm using blueprints. Can you explain a bit more about the headlights? ^ That weren't really constructive for me...
