Hi all, this is a problem that plagues me from time to time, and I couldn't find a similar thread on search (my bad search skill most probably).

As my explaining skills are....lackluster, to say the least, I'll use this video I captured to demonstrate:

So can someone please tell me what's going on? The face I am trying to cut along was formed by capping its respective border.

Thanks in advance,

Lucky

When ever you use cut tool, use snap to verts instead of snap to face. That should work.

That normally means your working at a non standard scale, probably too small. You can either correct the scale or adjust the snap preview which the cut tool uses even if snaps are disabled.

Tools menu > Grids and Snaps > Grid and Snap Settings > Options Tab and adjust the snap preview radius.

    OR

There is something not quite right with the geometry where the bottom connects to the edge.

Also what version of max are you using?
