Hello everyone! I'll be posting 3D stuff in here for critique and advice so I can get better at all this stuff. :]

This is the first gun I've made and just finished the low poly at 2,022 tris for the entire gun. Any thoughts on this before I start UV Mapping?

Finished baking out the AO and Normals and imported the low poly into UDK and made a basic shader to see how it looks. Will start texturing it real soon. :]

Changed the color scheme as previously it was too dark for my tastes so lightened the whole thing up and started putting wear on the edges. Will continue texturing away at this. :]

hey, i like how the gun turned out, one thing i would point out though is the black part of the handle seems to clean. there should be some more wear on it to match the rest of the gun. Looking good though!

@ jackalope: Thanks! I took your advice and tried to weather up that area to match with the rest of the gun better and also tried to make it as metallic looking as I could. Always had trouble when it comes to making metal look metal.

its looking better, i would add some lighter values to the handle for wear points, along the corners. to make it look more metallic i would increase the specular and add some noise to it, maybe make the diffuse a little darker. if you head over to this thread http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=77500 they are actually discussing what makes a gun finish look right

Thanks! I'm actually redoing the UVs as I don't have as much resolution as I'd like in parts that matter more, for instance the attachment under the barrel. Trying to maximize the UV space too and will be texturing the gun again. I'll read the thread you posted and work on what you've suggested.
