EDIT: FINAL SUBMISSIONS
Der Frankengear
hey everybody. im throwing my hat into the ring.
im going for my favorite the MEDIC!
tossing around a few ideas and i think i settled on a dr. frankenstein theme. thought it would go well with the already created heavy frankenstein monster hat from the contribute page.
(heres a link to the hat)
http://www.polycount.com/forum/showt...=69164&page=16
my final plan is to have a hat, a medigun, and a new melee weapon.
heres some thumbs.

1: Perv
2: Asian manga style
3: Troll
4: Woman
5: Emo
6: Marge Simpson
Perv and asian manga style look most interesting, well so does emo, but then all he would be missing from looking like hitler is a stash

I'm liking number 3 on the backpacks. The fan and hanging plug are appealing shapes.

Yeah, I'm digging number 3, though I like 2 as well.
As for the hair, perhaps you should go for a doc brown from back to the future vibe.

If this hairstyle #2 from the first hair-picture or the #1 of your newest sketches should be the Albert Einstein Haircut, then it has definitly to be him XD. Maybe you should give those sketches names or something to understand the meaning behind it. For e.g number 6 in your sketch could be Marge Simpson, but also Mrs frankenstein HairCut. Everyone would assosiate perhaps that you wanne make a Blue-Hair for the medic, which gives it a negative touch and doesn't fit into the TF2 Universe.
From the Med-Back-Packs I would choose the last one.

I like 3.
Could you do 3, but with the little electric cord from 1 hanging out.
I liked that detail :P

I don't like most of the hairstyles, but perhaps you could combine some of them to madman style a little better.
1. Looks like something from DragonBall Z
2. Looks too flat.
3. Doesn't fit the Medic very well.
4. Looks okay, but still a bit too anime-ish and not big enough.
5. Looks like he's just about to start cutting his wrists.
6. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_KzaNbgMMhN...400/Z1807D.jpg
I think you should combine 1, 2 and 4.
It should be roughly as big as 1.
(oops, doublepost, is there any way I can merge my posts?)

I'd say 1 if it ends up whispey like Einstein's hair, if it's as solid as the medic's current hair though I'm not a fan of any of them, they all seem very exaggerated.

1...like Einstein.
But please don't make emo hair for the medic...it doesn't fit...

hey screwonhead
i'd reconsider the backpack as an item. technically it is part of the medic model (as in attached to his back as a separate mesh but in the same model) and at the moment, is not handled by the engine like an item or a hat. the medigun is only the gun itself with the hose. i'm not sure about this, but my guess would be that making the backpack an item or part of the medigun would be some work for valve, and that is probably not adding to your chances at winning this contest.

The way I saw it when I decided to do a backpack replacement was this: If they can remove the head for the eyelander then removing the backpack can't be that hard, right?
The other alternative is to work with what is already there and add to it, however that is a less than optimal solution.

afaik, the head isn't removed, the headbone and everything attached just gets scaled to zero ;-)
thats why the stump of the neck looks so not tf2 like.

thanks for the responses guys.
@woodn: my intent with the backpack is to do it with the medigun and tie it together better as a single item. if all else fails, valve could just use the medigun part and ignore my back pack. :/ thanks for the heads up.
speaking of the backpack....

Loving the oldschool respirator and IV bag touches! As it's 1950's though have you considered the IV bag being a bottle though?

i dont know if it was answered on another thread, but how do you import the 3rd person weapon models into max (for size reference)? and if there was a way to import it in with the character model posed?

I think number four would do really well.

I'm a fan of #1 personally, it's unique and interesting without being too visually busy like some of the other ones; #4's also pretty good.

I don't think most of those fit with the theme of the backpack.
If they don't have to then that's not a problem obviously.

5 and 8 here, though they feel just a little too sci-fi-ish.
