Hi guys,

for those of you who have some experience with the cry engine, what sort of things should I need to know about bringing models in? Specifically guns.

This here is a gun I made a while ago. It has a diffuse, spec and noramal map, but as you can see it is less than appealing.

Should guns use tangent space normals or object space? This one above is tangent.

I don't have much experience with the cry engine, in fact, this will be my first time using it. Does lighting need to be built each time like UDK?

Any help is much appreciated

Thanks

I am not sure about normals, but lights are 100% dynamic as far as I know.

No lighting builds in CryEngine Crytek have their own tool called PolyBump to generate normal maps. I think you should give it a try. It can render something like ambient occlusion too. They call it horizon map I think.

It looks like your spec maps needs adjusting in your material. A lot of making a object look good in cryengine is down to your material settings. Just play with it.

You can also try adding a enviroment map for the metal
