hey guys, starting to dig up reference for an upcoming project... I'm looking for architecture reference, lots of it. I need detailed shots of pre/first/romanesque, gothic, other medieval stuff from farm houses to cities, even going back farther into greek, roman and before.

A lot of the stuff I can find are just your plain shots of what it looks like today or just shots of ruins. I don't suppose anyone else has a resource where people have reconstructed what things would have looked when they were at their prime, like how they do in some documentaries.

I'm digging through the reference thread, my personal collection of artbooks and photobooks and dvds of lotr, willow, rome, gladiator etc. I'm sort of interested in underlaying structure as well, how things are built and function.

Any ideas where I can continue my search?
Asker of smart noob questions, cause the dumb ones go unasked.

Remember those old David MacCauley books (Pyramid, etc.) With great black & white line drawings. Lots of details etc. I know there was one on the building of an old European, Gothic Cathedral (maybe Notre Dame?) He may have others
