Pretty sure that's an Cyrillic A, and I think his shirt reads something like "TO ARMS" but don't understand the second word - оружие (oruzhie) is weapon; it reads орьжие (or'zhie?), which could be slang, but returns no Google results.

Maybe it's a mistake. Or maybe it's the FUTURE.

It says:

Нλ ОРЬЖИЕ

Which would mean "to arms" if not for the ь. It should be у instead.

And that's definitely a lambda.
