Ok so Im finally going to pick up both the male and female versions, only Im not sure which ones to get.
Im obviously not going to pick up the medical version but versions 1 & 2 are close enough in price and it seems the only difference is the way they've been painted. Would the neutral grey versions be better for looking at the form or would it be better to get the colourized versions?

Contact Kim Graham. She had some amazing (forget the term. but dynamically posed anatomy sculptures) she did that she made casts of to sell. She might have some left. Otherwise see if you can get into a sculpture class to make one yourself.

Visually, I like version 1 better...because it looks cooler and its easier for me to see what are muscles and what are tendons.

I think you're right though...the gray one would probably benefit you the most.

"Figure color was tested to provide the ideal range of of light & shadow values in typical natural or studio lighting conditions."

I guess in the first one, maybe parts will look more sunken in because of the color in certain lighting?

I'd probably go for the second one.

I have the full color version and I can't imagine having the other versions. Seeing where the muscles and connective tissue meet is invaluable. I lucked out and got mine for cheap at GDC last year. But consider this is something that will help you immensely and you'll own it the rest of your life.

female AND male - wow, these are pretty big and bulky, btw.
at least you'll get the best of both worlds. the female one is suffering from a serious case of anorexia and kinda strange looking (everyone in the office comments on that) but unlike the male one - which has loads more detail - it comes with half a skin-surface.
version 1 of both should suffice plenty.

I have version 2 male and its awesome. I went for the 2 over the one because its a first generation cast. The V1 colouring does appear more aesthetically pleasing, but thats not what I got it for .

Would have loved the V3 but there is no way in hell I could afford that.

Get version 2. As far as I remember version 1 is one piece only, where's 2 and 3 have detachable arm and head (and penis). Which is very useful in my experience

BTW the fully uniform grey one looks much, MUCH better in real life than in pictures.
