Hey guys, I was wondering what the best way to go about having the purple lattice in the pic below conform to the bend of the selected polys on the other object. I tried the FFD modifier, but it caused too much stretching, and the bend too proved to inaccurate.

Or am I just going about this the wrong way?

FFD Box with a lot of segments and a careful eye to rotate/place the segments at the same distance they where when the thing is straight
or you could try to pathdeform along a spline

thats all i got if bend doesn't do it. dont do bend and then FFD, that more often than not sucks because the FFD will be terrible to work with.

you could try a path or patch deform or even use slideknit ( under tools http://slidelondon.com/) in combination with skinwrap
bonus vir semper tiro.

Yup : Bend, Pathdeform, or Skinwrap. Should all iove you perfect results (Bend only if your reference is a pure cylinder section obviously)

thanks for the quick responses guys, ill try them all out to see which i like best, I'll have to spend some time reading the help file on pathdeform and skinwrap, but hopefully it wont cause too many problems, and ill have some pics in pimp & previews tomorrow

Never heard of that Slideknit.... might have to check that out. I usually use FFD like the others said, or maybe that pathdeform
