So i got some today, first timer..
Jack links perium origional flava,
I took one and experienced a wtf moment.
It tasted like ravioli or some dried out tomato product..
Ones i should give another try?
Or look into some bacon products?

beef links are gross.
Beef Jerky should look like this:
get it at costco or trader joe's
And it shouldnt taste like tomato.
It should taste like pure love.

I used to read Stephen King and wonder wtf beef jerky and slim jims were

Had someone myself for the first time when I went to the US for my brother's wedding. Have to say I'm partial to the stuff, partly the taste, partly because it's something you can really work your jaw on.
I thought the teriyaki stuff I tried was quite nice too. Tried some kangaroo jerky someone from oztralia brought back.....flechhhhh....don't go there.

There's a south-african shop which sells it by weight near where I work , slightly more expensive than the pre-packed, but much better flavour.
It's also really hard to find packaged jerky that isn't laced with lashings of MSG or artificial sweeteners.

Nothing beats some good old fashion sun dried human flesh. Goes real good with some fava beans and a nice chianti.

Try some South African biltong if you can get it. You know those antelope things with big curly horns you see in nature documentaries? You can get them in handy, dried stick form amongst other things.

They sell that in the shop near me too, long strip that look like distended intestines covered in peppercorns.

Listen to the man!
JohnnySix that's called droëwors, not the same as biltong. Still good though!

If you are just starting out on jerky, I would suggest eating it with beer.

Biltong is what jerky wishes it was. Jerky is the meat equivalent of Cadbury's Dairy Milk, biltong is like proper european chocolate actually made with cocoa beans.

i ate beef jerky. weirdest shit i ever tasted. it reminded me of pig skin dipped in sweet and sour sauce. wouldn't surprise me if thats what it was actually made of.
if you wanna know, jelly is made out of pig skin, so just imagine jelly without the extra taste.

+1 on Biltong! If you can find it...
I wouldn't even equate it to beef jerky...the shit you get in the states is inedible, and as a result the whole dried meat thing gets a bad rap here.
