I plan on applying for an internship soon and i put a brief video of my recent summer work on vimeo. I would love some feedback before I send this in to be considered for hire.

Thanks in advance!

get rid of the black background and use a mid tone grey, if anything other then grey use a grey gradient.

put the wire frames and textures with each model, instead of at the end.

Got a website? If so you may want to add it on the end, so employer can visit it if it sits on their hard drive for a couple weeks and all they have is the video they'll be able to hunt you down without having to email you for images, etc.

The next gen techniques are very nice. I hate the fact that it looks poorly made and makeshift by the use of the marmoset camera. you know?
Also the fact that you can see a circular cursor from the UI makes it more ..robotic.
Also, as dekard said, gray backgrounds help bring out the outline of the model too.

The models are very nice.

Thanks guys, i've been getting the same type of feedback about the jerky camera from others. Problem is the models dont shine to their full potential in Maya hardware and i cant seem to get mental ray to render normals correctly in Maya 2009 , otherwise I would just render smooth turntables in mental ray. I'll post another vid when I re-edit.

I think the cam movement is actually a pretty nice touch! It screams realtime and that's cool!!

I agree. This is the first time I've seen marmoset used in showing off a piece other than just still frames. Nice touch.

Great use of switching the lighting up after you've rotated an object like on the barrier, allows you to see all the normal mapped detail.

I also agree with ceebee and pior. I like the camera as is in marmoset. After all, what better way to show off game art than in game?
Nice work dude, get a portfolio asap.

I tried to make it flow with the music, I think it works much better =)

Nice portfolio.

I'd suggest you change the order of the props though, starting with a gun and an ammo box might turn people away, they've simply been done so many times and demonstrated in so many tutorials that they're not very strong in a portfolio unless highly stylized.

Good work getting it running in realtime in marmoset though, I'm starting to want to learn that engine more and more these days, looks great ;)

Great reel.

The pistol came out really well!

I'd say keep the camera movement and add a grey background. I like seeing how the light will play off the surface when rotated and lights move.

Oh huh! I can see what people were saying about manual camera movement now. I agree with Pior, it does really emphasize that what you're looking at is being rendered realtime.

I'd also suggest building stuff not from tutorials. It looks like the waltherp99 and the ammo case is from fairly well known tuts.

The ammo case was the only thing from a tutorial, not the walther. My texture looks way different than the tutorial texture as well.

There is a walther tutorial? throw it my way!

Was just letting you know to be careful putting tutorials in your portfolio and demo reels.
