I need one of these Sketchbooks too. I'll try and post new stuff and maybe some old favorites of my 2d and 3d works in progress...

Thanks!

Note added: Critiques are welcome.

Try animating the eye, it will point out any errors that you have.

Reading some medical illustration books and I have my ecorche model I bought at gdc. Trying to get a good generic base head and experiment with sculpting them, just got the new mudbox working so wanted to try it out too.

This is a 45 or so minute test on the new base mesh.

just got the new mudbox 09 up and running I really like it so far. just simple and elegant for sculpting and painting on surface. It is very possible it will replace Z-brush for me.

Nizza-waarg - Thanks a lot for the kind words. I see that you are getting pretty far along with character stuff as well, keep it up

almost done with this study, I'm going to rig it up and animate it when it's done to see if the splits are working out ok. Hopefully this will serve as a nice nude base.

Definitely some strange areas and the hips are a little too narrow maybe? But I'll do a tweak pass at the end.

I think I'll do some 2d stuff with the rest of my sunday

whew! about done with this time to start sculpting!
This was a fun experiment and it sculpts really well. It was a great anatomy refresher.. I'd probably remodel it for better flow for animation but we'll see how this bends too why not...

it's 5978 tris.. all in quads save... about 3 triangles in the head.

I'll try to upload an obj if anyone wants to check it out/crit the mesh etc.

Trying to figure out the best way to do the fish webbing on his arm. Not sure if I should keep it as a separate mesh or do it with normal maps from a hand-modeled high poly. I think I will try it with the normal maps since a separate mesh would have tons of sorting issues.

I'm going to lengthen the body a bit to have a more agile look. And The big chore is designing and modeling all the masks.

Barf! Some more recent half finished projects... But I got an amazing laptop over the holidays so things are looking up! My whole deal since I've been unemployed is to develop my character stuff to be
"Concept to Completion" So working a lot on traditional skills I am apprenticing as an oil painter for a good friend of mine and jumping on digital/job/fun stuff at night. More to come...

This is an overpaint for my friends custom L4D map he's working on...

This is the latest concept art work, after all the real world painting my digital process is changing too.

And my Zbrush learning... getting there learning all the subtool juggling and how not to lose/ruin work. (Dont mind the hands they haven't been worked on)

This is my softball creature project I started while still learning the ins and outs of zbrush...

The design for this robot is by Ash Wood.. simple enough but once it's finished I want to try some cell shaded stuff on it.

Here's my oldish process... but I'm in the midst of changing it to be mostly Z-Brush oriented with retopo and texture finishing in maya/photoshop.

Ok for now, going to grind on it until I finish some stuff and get over my zbrush aversion!

Thanks
