Dont post often but I am a long time lurker. Not sure if this is the right area to post in, forgive me if not, but I'm looking for laptop recommendations.

I'm from the UK so it'll require a UK QWERTY keyboard, 4gig ram and a good graphics card. Not too bothered about the size/weight/look of things as long as it does what I want it to. Got a budget of around £750 but it could be negotiable depending on the specs of the laptop

I'll be wanting to use it when Im away from my main pc- so it'll need to be able to run 3DS Max, Zbrush and UE3/CryEngine2 (but Im not too bothered if I can only play the games themselves on low-medium settings- its more that I want to use my assets in the engine)

If theres not a good laptop for the £750 price range, could people recommend a good spec laptop graphics card I should be looking at and I'll work around that.

Been interested in the Dell Vostro 1710 but I dont think it has the graphics capabilities Im after.

Any help appreciated, and sorry if this is in the wrong section, thanks guys.

Graphics card isnt super important unless you will be gaming. I used an old geforce 6600 up until a few months ago. That being said I wouldnt go for something with intergrated graphics. My tip would be get something second hand that someone spent too much money on. I got a toshiba X205 SLI 5 for less than half retail and it under 6 months old. its a fucking beast. This is actually the first laptop I have bought and am very happy. Any geforce card 8XXX or above will run DX10, so thats what I would go for.

good luck!

Thanks for the advice, yeah I know the gfx card isnt amazingly important but as Ive had integrated graphics before I prefer some real gfx power.

Have been advised to check out the Acer Aspire 6930 Gemstone Blue which seems to do most things Id like and seems to be a nice price (just shy of £600), anybody got any experience with them?

Cheers

Here's what I bought recently. The keyboard is probably the most troublesome part of it, but man, it's got some considerable power for this price. And a subwoofer in a laptop? Whaaa?
