created DWIV - 3D - solar
on 03-19-2009 12:59 AM
I was thinking this one would be a land dragon clericon. He uses his magic potions on the dragons eggs to do all kinds of magical things Has a small winged dragon as a familiar. Not sure if I'll stick with this or not...more sketching to do

Thanks guys, yeah went for the stylised route, tough competing with all the amazing realistic grotesque entries!

Thanks Tummerboy,
Finally an update, first pass on the sculpt and accessories...
Also might change the familiar from a flying dragon to something more interesting.

nice one Solar. He's quality. I love the stylised look you've gone for. The bits around the neck, feet and arms...are these going to glow. I presume the rocks/eggs in his backpack will too? Will he have a weapon. Can't wait to see this bad boy after some ZB action

Looks cool, but i'd love to see the accessories play with the unique dragon anatomy in some cool kind of way, rather than just be worn as a generic belt/ backpack. Just an idea.

Thanks rats, not sure if those bits will glow just yet, probably. I was just messing around with shaders. These probably won't be anything like the final colours.
Thanks crazyfingers, that's a cool idea, I'll try playing around with the accessories some more.
Here's a more up to date version of the head.

Thanks chubbydan, yeah he probably wont have a normal weapon, the eggs and potions are kinda meant to be what he uses in place of that.
Thanks Parnell!
Worked a little more on some of the accessories -
Still have to tidy up the scales and the main body. Working on the bag at the minute and next it will be the familiar.

Looking good so far, Solar. The only thing I see is that his feet are wider in the concept.

very clean, i like it. my only thought is that hes very similar in size throughout his/her? body. Do we know what sex it is? a-sexual? Im just curious if it would be better if you made either the hips or shoulders a bit wider? idk maybe a paint over to check.

Thanks Marshal, I went with slightly smaller feet as he's gonna be a stalker in the norm class. But I might scale them up, not decided yet.
Glad you like him culpin, he's male, didn't think a penis was particularly appropriate for this style but theres still time for changes.
I'll probably re-adjust proportions if needed after all the accessories n stuff is finished.

Thanks r4ptur3!
Here's a quick go at the familiar, not sure if I like him or not. Might go with something completely different...

This is kicking ass Solar! You were really able to translate the feel of your 2D into your 3D, nice job!

oh wow. i love this.
only critique is his little buddy's feet seem too large - even for a cartoony cast, they're not gelling with his greentooth face.
