I've written a tutorial for users new to 3D, but more specifically, the free XSI Mod Tool. This should get readers, without any prior knowledge of 3D tools, started with the ability to apply images to a 3D mesh object, using a method more suited for game artists. It's also useful for any current version of XSI. So artists new to the application can learn from it.

I'm interested to know if anyone gets stuck during any part of the lesson. Any lines that are not useful, or redundant. I want it to be easy to follow.

Also, this tutorial is hosted on my new site which I'm frantically trying to add new content to.

Thanks.

Awesome! Glad to see some tutorials for XSI's powerful UV'ing showing up. You may want to include some of the keyboard shortcuts in addition (like ctrl-F for freezing texture supports) to further show how fast things can be done. Other than that great write-up.

When you throw roadkill the UV tools really don't need much else.

Hey, thanks for this. I've been meaning to give XSI a try to complement Silo. I'm sure I'll find this useful when that time comes.

Cool. Thanks for sharing your skills. I like that you choose something cool to texture. Very nice.

Thanks guys.

j_bradford: I'll save that stuff for the advanced tutorials. :P For beginners, the button is clearly visible.

I already have XSI Mod Tool installed, but I've never gotten around to doing any UV mapping in it. As such, I have no idea how, and could actually benefit from this tutorial. I'll give a look-see and tell you how easy it is to follow when I'm through.
