Hey Guys,

I am a freelance artist looking to break into the games industry. I have seen allot of the work here on poly count and would love some critiques from you guys. I am working on low poly modeling and I am new to 3ds max. I have a link to my website below and I look forward to hearing from you guys.

Thanks,
Micah

crits:
- bad photoshop skills,- things like this make it abvious that you just used the magic wand- some of it is rescaled and looks pretty bad.
Better render it out with a clean alpha channel and dont scale it up in photoshop.
- thumbnails have distorted propertions

check out the crop tool in photoshop to do it propper
http://www.mediacollege.com/adobe/ph...tool/crop.html
- to much different typo styles,- and bad placement, for example in this picture the text "Spec" is to close to the texture- and the "Modeled UV´s & Textured" is a completely different typo. Also the former font is that Times New Roman?- if so worst choise of all
maybe a sans serif font so it looks a little bit more serios, have a look for free fonts at:
http://www.dafont.com/theme.php?cat=...e=s&classt=pop

many of the 3d models and textures are fine but the website presentation is bad,- and that´s mainly because of typo, proportions and extraction techniques- to sloppy in my eyes -your work deserves better.

Yes, your website needs a drastic overhaul in terms of presentation. It's hard to know where to look, and when I do choose a thumbnail to click on, the resulting link is quite disappointing - many images crammed onto a single sheet.

You need bigger, clearer images, and a more consistent layout and presentation format.

Check out Caroline Delen's website or 3 Point Studios for good examples of clean, clear layout and professionally presented renders.

your website has alot of white space on the left and right in firefox and IE. same stuff as above and also on your images like this one:

You've cut off the 'concept' by at them bottom for some reason.

Thanks for the critiques! I am pretty new to web design so I used allot of the resize functions in Dreamweaver. I will go back and make those changes.

no dont rescale stuff in dreamweaver that´s what people did back 10 years or more ago. Better use the crop tool in photoshop and let the thumbnail have excatly the pixel size as they should be in the end.

you also don't 'need' to do all the webstuff yourself if you don't feel comfortable. You can also use a blog type website to display your stuff and maybe easier for you.

wordpress is what lots o folks are using atm. You can also use joomla

Here's the sticky on setting up a quick portfolio site:
