I'm a digital arts student in Silicon Valley and a new convert to the path of 3D modeling with my first modeling class. Had an absolute blast this term, and I'm looking for some feedback on my final project, an adventurer-type female character.

The class didn't require we keep under a poly budget, so I built multiple layers of clothes for fun and played around with different things. This is my first character model and I had an effing blast building this thing up.

It looks really good to me, and simply awsome for your first character. However, its hard for me to judge the models proportions from these angles. For example, the hands should go down to mid thigh, and from this angle it appears that they fall about crotch level making them significantly too short. Did you use orthographic pictures when you modeled?

It is also customary to NOT use a straight white or black background, but a minor detail really.
Good work though, and keep it up!

breasts seem a bit saggy.... whether they're small or kept in a sports bra i dunno, but either way gravity wouldn't do that.

actually breasts are super saggy irl but yeah she needs a sports bra if shes gonna be doing some adventuring. maybe make the clothes closer to the body but not skin tight. also keep in mind that this has been done by many artists already so you gotta make your model stand out from the rest. but good start so far.

Thanks for the feedback, guys.

I'll take note on the breasts for the future. And I did use orthogonal backdrop items to measure her out in head heights to get all the proportions right, but somehow I thought I got the arms down to mid-thigh. But you're right, they actually do reach the crotch.

Not sure I'll do anything more to this one as I did let the geometry get a hard to control. I have other characters in the pipeline and I'll post them up when I get farther along with them.

Nice first character.

You could probably make her clothes a bit more interesting, ie: breast pockets, cargo pockets, buttons, hems, etc.

I think both her arms and legs are too short, or perhaps it's because her torso is too long / crotch too low.

RE: Saggy breasts, hah! When I saw the model I thought "wow, someone who's not afraid to model a realistic looking woman"
