Decided to take a break from the creature texturing and do a bit of freeform sculpting. I used the demo head from pixologic's website as a base, stripped it down to the first subdivision and started sculpting with the clay and clay tube brush. For some reason I had visions of a nerdy kind of guy with an overbite. I plan on developing this further, he'll probably change along the way but that's all part of the process. I'll keep a log of my progress in this thread. Let me know what you guys think.

Quick update, just finished for tonight. Made some glasses for him and changed a few proportions because of some feedback from a friend. At this point still using the clay tubes to flesh out the blocky bits.

Bad hair and glasses are a tip of the sociology iceberg. What you really need to do to sell this character is a serious case of turtle-head. Here's a little more info on that: http://www.musclewithattitude.com/ar.../posture_power
To put it simply, no nerd would have posture that good unles he worked on it. Have a look at that hunchback in pliang's avatar for reference (sorry if it's you buddy).

That update with the turtlehead is hilarious. I can't stop laughing while looking at that images so I'm sure you nailed it.

The overbite is one thing, but don't scoff at the exiting underbite he's got going now. Over is such a stereotypical move. With the underbite, he earns that snobby, "I'm a nerd, but I still think I'm better than you because I know more about a computer" look.

Thanks for all the encouragement guys.
It's not quite what I had seen in my head when I started but I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.
Don't think I'll be touching it again until I get more stuff done for GDC.
Anyway, it was a riot to do and learned a few things while doing it so...
uh..
well here it is.
