*dons tinfoil hat*

Saw a news report about this yesterday. The catch they mentioned on the story I saw, was that you'd have to put up with revenue raising ads while browsing.

They also said there was "no spyware" involved in the process, but they will keep track of what you download and how often you listen to each track for marketing purposes. Huh?...

If I click that link I know they're logging my IP.
Let me paint you a mental picture;
You're sitting in your swivel chair, swirling with glee, for you have received new music from your favorite people. For free. "Hooray" you exclaim as the chair squeaks, reminding you of it's need for oil. Suddenly, there comes a knock on the door, however you can't hear it over the sound of your musical bliss. *THUNKPOEWr* THE DOOR FALLS IN! SMOKE GRENADES FILL THE ROOM WITH A BLINDING FOG! You suddenly have a large combat boot at your throat and a rifle pointed at your face, and one of the burly mustachioed men in blue takes his truncheon and starts savagely flogging your computer!
Next thing you know you're wearing a pretty pink bow in prison, selling your body for cigarettes.
Well played Government
Well played.
You're gonna carry that weight.

Somewhere, right at this moment, at least four RIAA board members are popping boners over this.
