I was wondering how I would toggle two objects off and on. I tried visibilty tracks, but when your object is textured it doesn't work and to be honest Its a bit crap because even when its supposed to be invisible, its slightly transparent.
I basically have two lODs and want to toggle them on and off to compare them. I donlt really want to use max's built in LOD tool.
cheers

Visibility track works fine for me, I use it all the time. Are you setting the values at one (visibile) and zero (invis)? Also check your tangents.

I think he's complaining that the object doesn't totally disappear in the viewport but only turns see through when the track hits Zero, which is obstructing his view of the LoDs. If he was to render it, the object would disappear but that seems like an unnecessary waste of time.
Even a material set to 100% self illum and 0% opacity will still show up in the viewport. Mostly so you don't forget about it and can find it again, but it always renders correctly, which doesn't help you when you're constructing in the viewport =/

I suggest using the standard layer manager and toggle them on and off its the fastest easiest way I can think of...
You might be able to scrub the visibility using animation layers? Just spit ballin' here

Ah yeah, Vig's right. Things still show up a little in the viewport.
