Sketched out a couple of ideas, think I'm leaning towards the bottom one or a variation.

Nice start, I like the shapes on this, should be cool to give it a nice huge sense of scale

How is the modeling coming along? I like the mountainside looking concept might be hard to make it work as a chess peice though.

I've been sick (excuses, excuses), I just started the basic model, I'm only up to 600 tris, so plenty of room to develop things. IronHawk:: I'll probably do the rock formations around the rook in some sort of presentation pedestal.

A little more progress, started working on a statue of a Rook (the bird)in mudbox, and baked some normals, they still need some tweaking. I'm only up to 924 tris, base not included, not sure if I want to add rock formations and such to the base.

That drawing you did looks a lot like oblivion in TES4

@Jimmies:: Unfortunately haven't gotten to play that, but I'm hopin' it's a compliment...don't wanna look like I'm ripping anyone off.
Little more progress, started playing with some materials, putting on temporary textures helps me visualize things better sometimes. I'm in the middle of UVing and still working out more details. Had a lotta fun with CrazyBump, that program rules. Please ignore the ugliness of the gradient insides of the windows.

Little update, trying to finish this thing up.

Anyone know when the submission thread gets locked? I'd like to squeeze out ever last bit of time I have on this.
