Hi all me again...,

I wanted to get some information and possibly some links to some web hosting services maybe those you use to host images post portfolio's on ect.

How do they work out for you?
How are the down times?
All that good stuff.

been using dreamhost for the last three years or so.
they're pretty nice and decently fast. they give you a solid amount of space/bandwidth, and are frequently double/upping that amount for free to remain competitive. There's a slew of other features they have for the basic plan, which is 8 or 9 bucks a month. Their uptime is usually pretty great, though last year they got hit with those california outages. Still, for the most part I've had no real complaints. They also send out funny newsletters to describe any new free features.

Chalk another up for dreamhost, been using them for a couple of years now. Got about 240gb of space and about 2.75 terabytes of bandwidth per cycle (guessing that means year), and both space and bandwidth grow. Never had problems with them either.

I've been using 1and1.com for a while now. I took part in their three year freebie off (when they were getting started), and now I'm paying for the service. It's been pretty stable the whole time. I think I've only seen it down once... maybe twice in 4 years.

just started using godaddy.com been using it only for a few week tho. although I thought $50 for a year of service + .net url was nice n' cheap.

I use bluehost myself, no complaints

1and1 here, super cheap and good value, was frustrating though when they were down for a couple days last year. Support staff in India

Ipowerweb here for the last four years. No problems, good service.

Just wanted to put in my vote for Dreamhost as well. Everything's been easy, straightforward, and solid so far. I've been with them for a little over a year.

I've heard good things about dreamhost. Don't use yoursite. They're terrible. >_<

I use Bluehost. Poop showed me the way. Outstanding tech support, cheap, fast and reliable.

yeah i use dreamhost. good stuff so far. Yahoo was terrible. My domain was registered to some company in australia and they didn't let me do anything over email and it was a huge headache.

I use https://www.nearlyfreespeech.net/ - it's "pay for what you use" web hosting. If you're only hosting a portfolio, you'll probably end up paying about a dollar a month. I think it's a better option than most webhosts who oversell you space and bandwidth that you'll never use.

Godaddy for registration.
PHPWebHosting for hosting.

I always search for the cheapest registrar at the time.

I've been with PHPWebhosting for several years. Mainly because they offered the most secure package for the best price. I'm sure most hosts offer Secure Shell FTP/SSH now, but these guys were offering it when others weren't. I've never had an issue with their service once, so it's kept me a loyal customer. I also have full access to my shell account, provided I don't install an IRC bot or something stupid. I'd recommend them to anyone looking for affordable, secure, and reliable service.

Hmmm, damn looks like I got to put my choice on hold I like that nearly free speech one though that could take a turn for the worst wouldn't it? Especially with say a video portfolio that's around 67.8mb (just a fake size number) wouldn't that be a bit pricey? I don't know how they judge bandwidth just yet.

I'll look into that one I might be compelled to change my decision.

About registration for domain names everyone likes godaddy?

My domain was registered under GoDaddy, no problems there. Apparantly they've recently started hosting services as well, so that might be worth looking into.
