Well, it looks like I'm tossing my hat into the ring as well.

concept wip:

I'm having a hard time with the legs, and getting those lovely evil-scifi details so many of you are putting out effortlessly, so any crits would be greatly appreciated.

Progress is going extremely slow since I'm still new to any kind of player modeling, but I think I'm starting to get somewhere...

edit: update below

Dont mind that ugly transparent mesh behind it, that was just a mudbox scribble to give me a kind of sketch to work over.

Crits as always would be much appreciated

thanks!

here's an update to the model; I'm kind of at a loss for how to work the shoulder area for proper deformation...anyone have any advice for it?

I'm still having a lot of trouble figuring out the shoulder and hip joints for deformation...but some progress has been made.

I desperately need to finish this up and get moving on the textures and normals, so any crits/advice/comments of any kind would be greatly appreciated.

what kind of propblems do you have?

these shoulderpads are allways kind of difficult.. fastest way is to detach them and give them a extra bone while rigging

and for hips.. look at hl2 models in the modelviewer (if you can).. they are not that bad wighted and edged around the hips

best thing is to avoid tiny details around the crotch .. the pads for the upper legs should´t go so high with the inner corner.. you should always think: "would i be able to move with this armor? and if not, what do i have to change on the armor so i could"
if you could move the model will too

keep going! love the concept

thanks for the comments, I appreciate the advice. I'll have to try the detaching and separately boning the pad.
