Im having a bit of trouble finding good tutorials on doing higher poly Sub-D stuff. Ive seen a lotta peoples here do some amazing Sub-D stuff in prep for use in Normal Maps, and was wondering if any of you guys could point me in the direction of some good resources.

What I'm looking for in particular is technique for mechanical and non-organic stuff, like creating "soft" hard edges and the like. My intent is to use it for Normal maps in the end if that helps narrow it down any.

many many thanks for any pointers in the right direction!

not sure about tutorials but I can give you a few pointers:

- Build your cage mesh out of quads as much as possible.

- For a softer edge, use a bevel.

- For a harder edge add edgeloops on either side and very close to the hard edge.

Some trial and error will teach you a lot using these techniques. Best of luck.

Rorshach's images are all gone, but you can find them in the PDF that Lee3Dee compiled (thanks man).

There are more good threads around, don't have the energy to find them.
