Comp 27 is over, is a voting thread going up soon?
What's the next comp all about?
I say something simple with the blizzard drawing a lot of game, but since we just did a low poly challenge maybe something different.
Possibly a Bad Ass Texture comp?
Any theme game level texture
1x512x512 diffuse with optional normal, spec, glow
Present it as well as you like. On a box or in a scene, it's all up to you.

perhaps a straight hi-res modeling comp, since lately everyone seems to be having fun with mudbox and silo

I like the texture idea, cholden. I generally like the simpler ideas and projects, with maybe a big one every couple of comps; was too busy as it was to even participate in the low-poly summer comp.

What about a high or low rez 3D animal competition? Make your favorite animal or something like that.

Crate texture contest sounds awesome.
Although, my recent lack of challenge participation pretty much voids the value of my opinion here.

I was kinda hoping for a low poly character comp, now I have gotten my feet wet in MAX I want to enter a comp
Maybe ultra low poly characters with 16 or 256 color textures no normals or spec on a single 128x128 texture.
Half life one models anyone?

maybe somebody could make a base mesh (low poly) of a set topic or theme, and then everybody could download it and sculpt a high-res version in their favourite program... then i dont know how a winner is picked but, i hope u get my point

Remember, Marvel is not happy with having their assets modeled unless they are getting bank for it. Prolly better to go with something a tad more generic.
I like the hi-poly sculpting idea, but it's fairly hard to put any kind of easy-to-follow constraint on it.
My suggestion would be a 1500-2000 poly "famous vehicle" such as Airwolf, the Dukes of Hazard car, the batmobile (any generation) the Back to the Future delorean. You get the idea.

stole the idea from some of the postings in p&p
dur:
Electro
Makoa
Seriously, we're not a commercial venture, Marvel don't go around suing fan art.

how about instead of direct copies you do inspired versions? i believe someone did a female Logan back in spring that was really awesome.(sorry i forgot the name) that way it really is orginil fan art and not (completely) infringing on their character IPs.

how about we take a character from the "previous generation" and then change it to suit the next-gen specs. eg: we could modify Abe (from Abe's Odysee/Exodus) and make him cooler (ie. suit the next-gen)
