I'm throwing my hat in, and this isn't just a place holder post either!

I'm going to have a tree growing on top and put some nice furniture and whatnot inside, ahhhh, so relaxing.

Nice. Kinda reminds me of a Dungeon Keeper portal - it has a 'shrine' feeling about it.

Thanks, I might need to put some sort of portal effect on it, like it teleports to my interdimensional mansion (hah, how's that for overcoming the plot size limit!?)
Now the big question: twisty pillars? It's at 784 triangles right now, leaving me only 240 triangles for a small tree on the roof, some grass around the edges and a portal effect.

twisty pillars, they look neat, but still a box silhouette, only worth faking with a texture. You could also save a lot by merging those tiney edges, and the other edges that don't add to the shape in the base, and arches.

Got the tree in and did some optimizing, it's at 716 triangles

You definately shaved those polys by removing the twisted pillars. Are you going to put anything in the archway?

I like the stone look, needs a little more dirt with a transparency map on those leaves, should look amazing!
