And after a couple hours of staying up too late, I went to bed, and I had dreams of killing zombies. My all time favorite dream, perhaps!

So far I love this game. The claustrophic atmosphere is brilliant, IMO. It's seems to be just the right mix for me of minor puzzle solving, blowing the shit out of zombies and demons, and the visuals are as advertised.

I used a 256mb GeForce 4mx

Had to run it on the lowest setting, but was able to keep shadows. Runs pretty smooth. Also that's on a 1.85 ghz Celeron, so probably the best I can do with that CPU.

The card was only 40 dollars too

Basically just something to hold me over until I get my hands on a new gaming rig.

Sure - but don't underestimate just how much I like killing Zombies. I am fantasizing about this all day.

Sometimes I pray for a comet to hit earth and turn 80% of civilization into zombies just so I can...ok...maybe I'm making that part up.

I got a new vid card about a month ago and my interest in Doom 3 was rekindled as well. I finally finished it last week and have been playing DM on occasion as well.

I agree with Irritant; great atmosphere and mindless, fun zombie killing. It still manages to scare the hell out of me as well.

Here's the card I bought: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...220&depa=1

Hey I did the same thing, 'cept I've been playing HL2 for the first time. Freakin' awesome. I really really really want to work on a game like that.

Oh and I got an nVidia 5700LE with 256 megs. I don't know much about vid cards but it does a decent job on my sad old pc.

If you can run Doom3 you can almost certainly run Halflife2 at decent settings, that's pretty good too..

hey, i totally love zombie killing too, and Doom 3 delivers that fairly well... when it does indeed involve zombies. it would be the none-zombie involved portions of the game that get irritating

I think they have to get a pat on the back for the engine at least! the game is a bit linear and dry by enjoyable... it seemed a bit backwords thoto me but then again it is meant to be a remake of doom sooooo.... but anyway i applaude id for the nicely done work and im now going to go play HL2

Doom 3 was certainly one longass repeat of dodging imp fireballs and shotgunning them in the face....best played with the addon that allows you to use the flashlight whenever rather than having to switch to it.

Don't get me wrong, I loved it, does justice to the Doom series perfectly.

Eh? Doom 3 was more like Quake than Doom but with more linear level design.

i dont think it was "more like quake than doom" and if it was its only because quake was a more recent progression of the FPS game. Quake was a lot like doom in that you went around shooting stuff but it added stuff like proper 3d.. ai.. and that! and doom is the same its just adding to the roster of effects and machanisms that make the FPS game better.. so saying its more like quake than doom is kinda stating the obvious!

Quake had a different weapon balance, Doom3's weapons are weak like Quake's and the enemy numbers match better.

Am i the only person that doesnt think doom3 is as "DARK" as people claim?...There was only maybe 2 level total that were even "dark" enough to make me use the flashlight at all.

Now u want dark? Go play AvP2 as the marine or alien in normal vision mode....sheesh!

or Quake2 rather! Quake2 in GL was VERY dark, but nobody cared as everyone went in colored-lighting envy anyway

Slayer: Nope, I'm thinking the same. Perhaps most people had their screens set too dark (hell, you're supposed to up the brightness in even Counterstrike, is it too much to demand that for Doom 3?). Even when there was no light there was usually fog that let you see the faint silhouettes of your enemies.
