Awe man, they are letting sluts join up now? I wonder what company this could be for... Hmmmm.
Seriously though man, It has some cool elements, but I think you might have posted too soon. Unless you are planning a follow up in 5 minutes with a much more refined version, you probably should wait till you are at fairly established chunks of progress.
Rough first pass of model
Final pass of model
UV layout
Rough first pass texture
Final pass texture
Those are the stages people can give the most meaninful critique at. Now get back to work.

This is one of the more strongly featured characters I've seen here. The shapes look really good. Meshflow on the other hand seems strange or chunky in places. Just beneath the eye, below and to the side of the cheeks, and some spots in the brow could all use a bit of retooling, unless of course you have a specific reason for not going all quads.

heyyy that's commin along.
as far as the eyes go, i'd find out what they're working on, what they have worked on, etc, and cator to those needs. with the kind of polies that you have on the face, i'd assume that you'd want acctual eyeballs too..
are we supposed to be giving you crits on an art test??

Steak house- There is no need to go all quads when a mesh is going but triagulated anyways. Under the eye is a fat pouch and on older people it is more noticeable, that is why I have made geometry there, I hope the pic shows you how the shadows fall over some of my surfaces.

The side view shows that the nose is too high, but maybe you fixed that already.
Otherwise not bad.

The slope of his forhead is wrong, it needs to slope back more for it to be a mans head. Oher than that, the head is looking good.

If there is going to be facial animation YES you do need to use quads, you wont get nearly as good of results when you morph tris. Atleast around the mouth area where you will get the most deformation. If there isnt going to be any facial animation tris arent a problem but i still like to use quads for the most part anyway.
[edit] not just quads but edge loops. heres an example: http://www.planetquake.com/polycount...e/oksana05.jpg

Todd, whatever...disregard the PM i sent you, I'd unsend it if I could, I was just a little leary if you were Jay Vitamin or not...your english is really off from how you usually post...
Anyway, welcome over to Polycount, I really liked some of your work over at CGTalk, especially the Mario/Luigi/Yoshi models...and this one seems to be coming along good as well, just like the others said, check to see how they want the head modelled. Right now it will work, if they don't want it animated.

Indeed. I don't know the guidelines of your test, so I can't critique on specific areas. But, at this point, it's looking great. Nice shapes.

His head seems like it might be a touch on the small side, but that could just be me. Also, I'm wondering what the theory is behind modeling palms up?
If that's not hair, and the start of a helmet, I'd definitely bulk it up a bit.

The test is what you see, the torso of a space man, no legs.
HAMKEN - I don't know any other language other than english. I also don't know if I have won. It will be weeks before I hear anything.

Not bad. I wonder how that company let you show the work ? Usualy they don't allow you to post game related staff.

Jay, nice Space Man. I really love the face and the details in the outfit. This is Lani, I meant to e-mail you after Shorty's that one night. But I kept forgetting, then I saw your thread here. What's up?
