Just finishing this up after animating for a couple months straight. Still have to finish the finger deformation loops. The poly count right now is 2144 tris. Big question now is "are the arms to long?". Let me know how you like it.

Oh and the reason I have a flight helmet and mask on is because I always wanted to be a Fighter Pilot as a little kid. I'd watch Top Gun with an old football helmet and my dad's dust mask on pretending it was my flight gear.

it's supposed to be bare feet I didn't think I should spend the polys on toes. Obviously I didn't pull it off well =/ so maybe I'll just extrude some faces and make them sneaks or actually those stupid "deck shoes" that little kids like to wear to the pool or beach, those would work well since they're pretty skin tight, I'd just have to add a plane for the loop in back.

I just got one question... What is that thing sticking
out of your mouth? It looks like a mask with a bong
attached. Could you verify? LOL, sorry, I just had to ask
that. Other then that, I think its nice and smooth, the
poly flow looks solid, especially on the shorts.
Very nice.

I just looked at the pretty pictures. [slaps self]

Ok, now that i got that cleared up, umm....I love it.
You plan on making a jet for it or just the character?
Either way, I love it, it looks like fun to skin. GL

lol I was thinking maybe something simple like the cardboard box from Calvin and Hobbes, maybe spin it and have a tricycle with cardboard wings.

a cardboard plane thats crudly stuck to a tricycle... lots of selotape and bits of card falling off ...

Its looking great , how do tou get such a nice render? i see you have manny lights and your shadow is fuzzy , is that a shadow map or ray traces with lots of rays ... ??

Those lights are the result of a Maya script called Global Illumination. The script allows you to fake high quality global illumination and allows from so pretty decent looking, pretty quick renders. The shadow is just the default Depth Map at 512 resultion which is why it's fuzzy. If I turned up the resolution or turned on Ray Tracing it would get a lot sharper.

this model is great, i really like the idea too

maybe you should model the big toe and have the rest a solid mass, and a cartoony/simplistsic rocket ship on the shirt?

You were a disturbing child Voodoo. Nice skin work though. On the helmet, what exactly is that front piece? An oxygen hose? will it have ragdoll physics applied to it so it'll bounce around?

yeah that's exactly what it is, not sure if I'm going to make it a soft body and put dynamics on it or just keyframe it but it will bounce around
